Rheumatology & Functional Medicine in Miami, FL

When Pain Controls Your Life, It Feels Like There's No Way Out

Most rheumatologists can’t see new patients for 3–6 months, then give you 7 minutes and a prescription. Brickell Rheumatology Wellness Center is different. We are a private-pay practice for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. We combine rheumatology and functional medicine so you get longer visits and root-cause investigation. New patients are seen within 7–14 days, 60+ minute appointments, and a comprehensive plan that goes beyond medication.

When You’re Tired of 10-Minute Visits and No Answers

If you’re living with autoimmune or inflammatory symptoms, you’ve likely already seen multiple doctors, repeated your story, and left with more questions than answers. At Brickell Rheumatology, we designed our practice for professionals, caregivers, and high-performing individuals who want to feel like themselves again. They are willing to participate actively in their health and value a thoughtful, integrative plan—even if that means investing privately in their care.

This practice is for you if:

  • You want a rheumatologist who looks beyond single lab results and considers the whole picture.
  • You’re frustrated with rushed visits and fragmented care.
  • You’re willing to invest privately in your health.
  • You’re open to a private-pay model if it means more time, depth, and access.
  • You value a long-term relationship with a doctor who understands your history and goals.
  • You want to understand why your symptoms are happening, not just mask them.
  • You’re willing to make long-term changes to improve your health and quality of life.
  • You appreciate clear explanations and shared decision-making.

Our Services

Comprehensive Rheumatology
& Functional Medicine Care

Comprehensive care to reduce joint inflammation, pain, and stiffness. We combine advanced therapies with lifestyle strategies to improve daily function. We may use disease-modifying medicines, targeted injections, and physical therapy when appropriate. We track labs and symptoms and adjust your plan to help you stay active with less discomfort.

Personalized treatment to ease joint discomfort, enhance mobility, and slow disease progression. We focus on movement, nutrition, and medical solutions. Options may include joint-friendly exercises, bracing, and image-guided injections. We also discuss pacing, weight management, and home habits that protect your joints.

Targeted care for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and related conditions. Our approach helps manage symptoms, prevent flare-ups, and improve wellness. We tailor medicines and monitoring to your organ needs and daily routine. Regular labs and visits help us respond early to changes and lower flare risk.

Specialized treatment for gout and other inflammatory conditions. We address triggers, lifestyle habits, and medical management to reduce painful episodes. Care may include uric acid–lowering therapy, flare relief plans, and practical nutrition guidance. We review other health factors and build routines that reduce the chance of future attacks.

A holistic approach to autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. We integrate nutrition, stress management, and non-medication therapies for lasting wellness. We combine standard treatments with root-cause evaluation of sleep, gut health, activity, and stress. Your plan evolves with regular check-ins, labs, and symptom tracking so we can refine what works for you.

Why a Private-Pay Rheumatology Practice?

After years in traditional insurance-based practices, Dr. Bojana saw patients suffering not from lack of answers but from lack of time. Insurance models force doctors to see 4-6 patients per hour, making it impossible to dig deep into root causes. That’s why Brickell Rheumatology operates as a private-pay practice: so Dr. Bojana can spend the time your health deserves, without insurance company restrictions dictating your care.

How payment works

  • We are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly.
  • For standard rheumatology visits, we can provide a superbill you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement (not guaranteed).
  • Functional / integrative visits are not covered by insurance and are paid out of pocket.

What you gain

  • Longer, in-depth visits to understand your history, symptoms, and goals.
  • An integrative / functional approach that looks at root causes, not just symptom control.
  • Faster access—most new patients can be seen within 7–14 days, instead of waiting months.
  • A focus on long-term wellness, not just short-term fixes.

HOW CARE WORKS

Step 1 – Request a New Patient Appointment

Submit your inquiry through our online form. You’ll see a clear notice that we are a private-pay practice, and you’ll have the option to confirm you’re open to this model.

Step 2 – We Review Your Case & Explain Options

Our team reviews your information and contacts you—usually within one business day—to clarify whether you’re seeking a standard rheumatology visit or a functional / integrative consultation, and to answer questions about fees and next steps.

Step 3 – Your First Visit: Time to Be Heard

During your initial visit, Dr. Bojana Jovanovic takes the time to understand your story, review records and labs, and begin mapping a plan that fits your life. You’ll leave with next steps you can understand, not a rushed checklist.

Step 4 – Ongoing Follow-Up & Long-Term Plan

Follow-up visits focus on refining your plan, monitoring progress, and supporting long-term wellness—using both rheumatology tools and functional medicine when appropriate.

Why should I pay out of pocket when I have insurance?

A: Insurance-based practices are required to see 4-6 patients per hour to stay profitable, which means 7-15 minute appointments focused on symptom management, not root-cause work. Our private-pay model allows 60+ minute visits where we review your full history, identify inflammation triggers, and build comprehensive plans combining medication (when needed), nutrition, lifestyle, and functional medicine. Most patients find the investment worthwhile for the depth of care and rapid access (7-14 days vs 3-6 months).
